For the first half of April, I was out in Nepal, leading a trip for Adventure Peaks. The plan was to climb Island Peak, which lies in the heart of the Everest Region. Unfortunately, due to both Bob and Matt falling ill, we had to abandon our summit attempt at base camp, but it was still a great trip and reinforced the notion that it’s not reaching the summit that counts, it’s about making the most of the journey. Oh, and getting home safely! Bob and I reached the summit of Chukung Ri, which at 5560m was still a fine achievement.
