Sgurr nan Gillean and Am Basteir, Skye
We tackled the West Ridge of Sgurr nan Gillean both in ascent and descent, before making short work of the East Ridge (and Bad Step) of Am Basteir, again up and down.
The weather was kind to us all day, and treated us to some atmospheric views of the surrounding hills and sea.
Well done to both Beverly and Stephen for rising up to today’s challenge, and hopefully this will be the start of many scrambling adventures in the Scottish Highlands.
Fantastic pics of a brilliant day. I learned so much from Ken. It was my first time using ropes and I was very wary of climbing the West Ridge and the Bad Step but Ken was very reassuring and calm with his instructions. I would never have thought I could do anything like that but i did. Thankyou Ken for a very memorable climb looking forward to the next one.
Hi Beverly,
Thanks for your comment, really appreciate it! Glad that you enjoyed yourselves and that you were able to achieve both Sgurr nan Gillean and Am Basteir. In Pinn next?
Hope that you enjoyed the rest of your time on Skye, and hopefully see you both soon.
Ken
I was thinking In Pinn next as well.
Brilliant! It’s not technically much harder than the chimney on Sgurr Nan Gillean, although a bit more exposed.
